We are currently accepting nominations for both the Council and Vice-President elections for the 2026 – 2028 Council term.
Council terms will start on June 27, 2026.
2026 Elections Timeline
Nominations open: January 19
Nominations close: February 9
Elections open: February 23
Elections close: March 6
NOMINATION FOR COUNCIL
This election cycle, there are the following seats to fill:
(7) Council Members
(1) Early Career Researcher Council Member — Pre doctoral
(1) Early Career Researcher Council Member — Post doctoral
NOTE: The early career researcher council members will co-chair the ECR committee, which is a group of early career researchers separate from the Council.
Requirements for nomination:
Members of ISEK in full standing are entitled to nominate themselves to serve on the Council. Members are also invited to contact suitable candidates and encourage them to submit their name for consideration or nominate them with their approval.
In order to be considered, candidates must:
- Be a current member of ISEK
- If you are a past Council member, have a 4-year lapse time after your third term (if applicable)
- For the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Council Members, the additional eligibility requirements are:

- Pre-Doctoral: candidate is required to be > 1 year (full time equivalent) since commencement of their PhD, and not yet having submitted their thesis.
- Post-Doctoral: candidate is required to be < 4 years (full time equivalent) since PhD conferral and may be awaiting conferral after thesis submission.
How to nominate
If you wish to submit a nomination, please email the ISEK Secretariat at with the following:
- the candidate’s recent photo
- the candidate’s current University affiliation
- the candidate’ short biography (maximum 200 words)
- a brief statement (maximum 250 words) addressing the candidate’s background and goals in seeking the position
- what seat the candidate is nominating for (Council member, ECR pre-doctoral, ECR post-doctoral)
- for ECR position only, information regarding start date of PhD OR date of submission of Thesis/PhD conferral

NOMINATION FOR VICE PRESIDENT
Requirements for nomination:
All past or current Council members may stand for the Vice-President elections.
In order to be considered, candidates must:
- Be a current member of ISEK
- A past or current Council member
