The movement disorders evaluation laboratory of the research center of the MontrealGeriatric Institute, associated with the University of Quebec in Montreal, is looking for a postdoctoral candidate to carry out a project on the mobility of patients with Parkinson’s disease in their living environment. This project, funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research and the Parkinson Quebec Network will use inertial sensors to measure movement indicators and thus capture the motor symptoms associated with the disease. The position will offer a unique opportunity for qualified candidates to apply they knowledge in the clinical field, as well as be port of a multidisciplinary team that includes neurologists, engineers, as well as experts in the quantitative and qualitative assessment of patients with Parkinson’s disease. The research project will take place in Quebec, and the postdoctoral training will be done at the faculty of sciences of the university of Quebec in Montreal. this project will provide a unique opportunity for engineering students to apply their knowledge in the clinical field. the basic salary is $45,000/year will be offered and could increase depending on the qualification of the candidate. The salary for the first year is guaranteed, and salary for the following two years will depend on performance. The candidate will be required to apply for postdoctoral scholarships. The candidate must have solid background in signal processing and have a good understanding of worn technologies such as accelerometers, gyroscopes smart watches and GPS, among other things, A good knowledge of English is essential.
